Orville W. Medlin of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, November 23, 1997, at St. Francis Medical Center after a short illness.
He was born January 15, 1925, in Bell City, Mo., the son of George and Lura Pritchett Medlin.
He and the former Henrietta M. Schwepker were married on December 27, 1947, in Cape Girardeau. She survives.
He was a member of St. Vincent De Paul Church in Cape Girardeau. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He worked for the Government Engineers for two years.
They had resided in Kennett for ten years and he was employed with Southwestern Bell Telephone for 37 years until his retirement on April 11, 1987. He was formerly of Advance.
Mr. Medlin was a member of the Knights of Columbus, V.F.W. Post 3838, the American Legion and the Telephone Pioneers.
In addition to his wife, Henrietta, he is survived by a son, Darrell Medlin of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Marietta Reinagel of Kelso, Mo. and Myra Reisenbichler of Pocahontas, Mo.; a brother, Leeman Medlin Sr. of Advance, Mo.; four sisters, Erma Ireland of Vienna, Mo., Georgia Willen of Chesterfield, Mo., Lorene Garner of Advance, Mo., and Pam Keeton of Lone Grove, Okla.; four granddaughters, Amy Reinagel McIntosh, Leah Reisenbichler, Emily Reisenbichler and Meridith Medlin; four grandsons, Lance Reinagel, Ryan Medlin, Grant Medlin and Nathan Reisenbichler; and one great granddaughter, Ashlyn McIntosh.
He was preceeded in death by his parents, a grandson, one sister and three brothers.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 pm Tuesday, Nov. 25, 1997, at Ford & Sons on Mt. Auburn Road. Parish prayers will be held at 7:00 pm. A funeral mass will be at 10:00 am Wednesday, Nov. 26, 1997, at St. Vincent De Paul Church with the Rev. Milton Ryan officiating. Military graveside rites by the VFW Post and burial will be at St. Marys Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
