Orville J. Rodgers, 78, of Jackson died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007, at Jackson Manor. He was born May 13, 1928, in Bernie, Mo., son of Sam and Irene Stevens Rodgers. He and Letis M. Orville J. Rodgers, 78, of Jackson died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007, at Jackson Manor.

He was born May 13, 1928, in Bernie, Mo., son of Sam and Irene Stevens Rodgers. He and Letis M. Morlan were married in August 1947. She died Sept. 1, 1993.

Rodgers attended the former Good Life Church of Gordonville. He was employed 28 years at the IXL Handle Factory in Bernie and Jackson. He farmed in the Millersville community, and was a member of the Jackson Trail Riders Association, Rough Riders Club of Lutesville, Mo., and the Cape County Coon Hunters Association.

Survivors include two sons, Terry Rodgers of Whitewater and Douglas Rodgers of Bakersfield, Calif.; two daughters, Carolyn Brotherton of Jackson and Patricia Applebee of Hampton, Tenn.; a brother, Bobby Rodgers of Bernie; two sisters, Glenda Allen of Bernie and Wilma Triplett of Elsinore, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Frank Monroe officiating. Interment will be at Bernie Cemetery.
