MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Orville Loyd Myers, 83, of Marble Hill died Thursday, June 13, 2013, in Marble Hill. He was born Oct. 31, 1929, in St. Louis, the son of the Rev. Orville and Myrtle Chadd Myers. He married Ethel Lou Myers in Piggott, Ark., on April 12, 1950. She survives...

MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Orville Loyd Myers, 83, of Marble Hill died Thursday, June 13, 2013, in Marble Hill.

He was born Oct. 31, 1929, in St. Louis, the son of the Rev. Orville and Myrtle Chadd Myers. He married Ethel Lou Myers in Piggott, Ark., on April 12, 1950. She survives.

Myers retired as a medic from the U.S. Navy in 1967. Following his military retirement he worked in surveying with the Bollinger County surveyor. He raised Black Angus cattle and was a member of Calvary Temple in Marble Hill.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Roger (Barbara) Myers, Renay Lynn Myers and Robert (Wilma) Myers, all of Marble Hill; four brothers, Paul Myers of Wood River, Ill., Irving Myers of Dexter, Mo., Donald Myers of Bethalto, Ill., and Bill Myers of Jackson; and six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-great-grandchildren.

A sister, Alice Laverne Eaker, and his parents preceded him in death.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Hutchings Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Baker Cemetery near Marble Hill.
