JACKSON -- Orville H. Holcomb, 93, of Jackson died Sunday, June 29, 1997, at the home of a daughter in Ballwin.
He was born Jan. 12, 1904, in Cape Girardeau, son of John T. and Martha Hopper Holcomb. He and Mildred M. Kurre were married Feb. 3, 1929. She died Nov. 9, 1985.
Holcomb was a graduate of Central High School and Cape Girardeau Business College.
He was a bookkeeper at Main Street Garage several years, and then owned Cities Service Filling Station at Broadway and Ellis. He was a sheet metal worker in aircraft plants in St. Louis and California during World War II.
Holcomb was a sheet metal worker at Shaul Manufacturing Co. in Cape Girardeau until he and his wife established the Red Barn Antique Shop at Fruitland in 1956. He retired in 1979.
He was an automobile collector and member of Capaha Antique Car Club; member of Hobbs Chapel United Methodist Church and St. Mark Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include a son, Dr. John Holcomb of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Marianna Kipp of Ballwin; a sister, Genevieve Townswick of Omaha, Neb.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 5-8 p.m. today. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Stewart officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park.
