Orval Joseph Seiler, 64, of Leopold died Saturday, Oct. 22, at 7:15 a.m. at St. Francis Medical Center. He was born April 18, 1930, in Leopold. He married Helen Marie Holcomb Dec. 1, 1951, in Leopold.
He worked for Elfrink Truck Lines for 30 years before retiring in 1990.
He was the son of John H. Seiler and Helen Holzum.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Marie Seiler; three sons, John A. Seiler of Gordonville and Jessie and Joseph Seiler, both of Leopold; two daughters, Annabel Engelen of Leopold and Marian Hutchings of Jackson; a brother, Homer Seiler of Leopold; three sisters, Ethel Thiele and Edith Seiler, both of Leopold and Esther Jansen of Houston; and 17 grandchildren.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 5898 of Leopold and was a third-degree knight. He was one of the organizers of the shooting matches at the KC Council. He was first Cub scoutmaster of Leopold. He belonged to the Teamsters organization. He was also a volunteer firefighter in Marble Hill.
Visitation will be at the Baker Funeral Home in Marble Hill Sunday at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. followed by Parish prayers at 8 p.m.
Funeral mass will be Monday at 11 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church in Leopold with burial to follow at St. John's Cemetery. The Rev. Michael Lee will officiate.
