Mrs. Orneda Metzger, 78, of Cape Girardeau passed away at her home Sunday, Oct. 15, 2000. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at the McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau, with funeral services at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home chapel. Mrs. Orneda Metzger, 78, of Cape Girardeau passed away at her home Sunday, Oct. 15, 2000.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at the McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau, with funeral services at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Philip Curran officiating.

Mrs. Metzger was born July 18, 1922, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of the late J.E. and Elizabeth Stebelton McKinzie. She and Clyde Metzger were married in January 1948, and he survives.

She also is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Mike McGee of Shreveport, La.; two grandsons, Tyler D. Patrick of Watertown, N.Y., and Kristoffer J.R. Patrick of Frostberg, Md.; and one sister, Opal Hahs of Springfield, Mo.

She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

Mrs. Metzger graduated from Poplar Bluff High School and the Poplar Bluff Business College. She worked for a jewelry store while in Poplar Bluff for several years.

When she was married and moved to Cape Girardeau, she worked for the former Gatley Department Store and for many years was an account representative for radio stations KGMO, KGIR and KFVS.

She was a member of the First Christian Church of Cape Girardeau.

Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church or the American Cancer Society.
