JACKSON -- Orillian Harvey Hand, 87, died Saturday Sept. 4, 1999, at his residence in Jackson.
He was born Nov. 17, 1911, in Grand Tower, Ill., son of Pete Harvey and Alma May Hudson Hand.
He and Clara Mattingly were married May 2, 1931, in Gorham, Ill.
Hand was a rural mail carrier in Gorham, Ill., for 44 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Jackson Country Rural Carriers Association. He was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church in Millersville.
Survivors include his wife; four children, Lyle Hand and Linda Dean, both of Phoenix, Ariz., Alma Lee Price of Holton, Ind., and Julia Ann Mazur of Grafton, Ohio; two brothers, Pete Hand and Gilbert Hand, both of Murphysboro, Ill.; six grandsons; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by one son, two brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call at Pettett Funeral Home in Murphysboro, Ill., from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and before the funeral on Tuesday.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday Sept. 7 at the funeral home. The Rev. Calvin Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Murdale Gardens of Memory in Murphysboro, Ill.
