ORBIE B. KEMPFER

Orbie B. Kempfer, 84, 2613 Leroy, died Wednesday, April 22, 1992, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

She was born July 5, 1907, in Murphysboro, Ill., daughter of William and Julia Foncree Stoddard. She married Cecil Kempfer Sept. 19, 1924, at Ft. Chartres, Ill. He died in 1981.

Kempfer was assistant manager at J.J. Newberry more than 30 years, and worked 15 years at Co-Op Gift Shop, retiring in 1983.

She was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church, VFW Auxiliary, and was a Democratic committeewoman many years.

Survivors include a son, Cecil Kempfer of Collinsville, Ill.; two grandchildren, and a great-grandson.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Andrew Church. The Rev. Louis Launhardt will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today.
