Ora James (Jim) Gibson Jr., 67, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010, at Southeast Missouri Hospital. He was born Nov. 15, 1942, in St. Louis, son of the late Dr. Ora James and Edna M. Miller Gibson Sr. of Cape Girardeau. He and Nancy Jean Price were married Feb. 2, 1963, in Greenville, S.C...

Ora James (Jim) Gibson Jr., 67, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

He was born Nov. 15, 1942, in St. Louis, son of the late Dr. Ora James and Edna M. Miller Gibson Sr. of Cape Girardeau.

He and Nancy Jean Price were married Feb. 2, 1963, in Greenville, S.C.

Mr. Gibson was a 1961 graduate of Central High School in Cape Girardeau. From Southern Illinois University he earned a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in political science. At Salmon P. Chase School of Law at Northern Kentucky University he earned a Juris Doctorate degree. Over the years he had a private practice, worked as an assistant prosecutor and was currently working as senior counsel in the Missouri Department of Revenue.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Jean Gibson, of Cape Girardeau; a son, Edward James Gibson of Cape Girardeau; a grandson, Karter James Gibson, an aunt, Lorene Killion, of Highland, Ill.; and a cousin, Al Killion, of Champaign, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Private graveside services will be at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
