CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Opal Jane Vessells, daughter to the late Floyd Dee and Beulah Beatrice Spain Blue, was born Aug. 4, 1936, in Randles, Missouri, and departed this life Saturday, Nov. 7, 2020, in Chaffee at the age of 84.
Opal married Sherman Arvie Vessells on Dec. 20, 1952, at Piggott, Arkansas. He preceded her in death Dec. 23, 2010.
She worked at Lee-Rowan Wire in Jackson as a wire cutter for many years and later worked at the Columbia Sportswear plant in Chaffee, from which she retired.
Opal is survived by a daughter, Beverly (Joe) James, and a son, Sherman Vessells, both of Chaffee; four grandchildren, Shannon (Bonnie) Dannenmueller of Scott City, Erica (John) Enderle of Scott City, Bryan (Lindsay) Craft of Cape Girardeau and Alysha Vessells of Cape Girardeau; and eight great-grandchildren, Jacob Gettings, Hailey Dannenmueller, Amanda Enderle, Macy Enderle, Courtanie Stoffregen, Janden Stoffregen, Seaera Dunning and Evin Craft.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters; a grandson, Terry Craft; and a daughter-in-law, Donna Vessells.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.
Funeral service will follow at 2 p.m., with the Revs. Jack Owens and Travis Hendrix officiating. Interment will be at Kenyon Cemetery in Delta.
