Opal Slinkard, 87, formerly of Gravel Hill, died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 1996, at Ratliff Care Center.
She was born Feb. 27, 1909, at Whitewater, daughter of George and Edith Schultz Rhodes. She and Arbon Slinkard were married May 16, 1927. He died April 22, 1982.
Slinkard was a member of Gravel Hill United Methodist Church and its Women's Society of Christian Service.
Survivors include a son, Larry Slinkard of Scott City; four daughters, Virginia Hutson, Virgie Turner and Sylvia Crites of Jackson, Lavern Hobeck of Chester, Ill.; a brother, Milford Rhodes of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Georgia Green of Cape Girardeau, Arvella Estes of Jackson; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, a daughter, two brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ronnie Brown officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
