JACKSON -- Opal L. Tripp, 85, of Jackson, died Thursday, March 17, 1994, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born March 2, 1909, at Neelys Landing, daughter of George and Maggie Robinson Ackman. She and Clarence Tripp were married in 1928. He died April 30, 1966.
Tripp moved to Jackson in 1942 from the Indian Creek community. She owned and operated the former City Service and Colonial Restaurants here, and had worked at the former Mac's Restaurant, retiring in 1974.
Survivors include two sons, Donald Tripp of Cape Girardeau, Ed Tripp of Little Rock, Ark.; three daughters, Nina Ross of Jackson, Nigel Moyers and Justine Watson of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Troy Ackman of Sedgewickville; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donald Slaten officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
