CHARLESTON -- Opal Irene Sasseen, 80, of Charleston, died Thursday, March 25, 1993, at her residence.

She was born Jan. 13, 1913, in Mississippi County, daughter of Joseph and Dorothy Duvall Davis.

She married Claud Able Sasseen Sept. 9, 1935. He died Nov. 10, 1986.

Sasseen was a lifetime resident of Mississippi County, where she worked as a seamstress for the Buckner-Ragsdale Store in Charleston.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Charleston.

Survivors include two daughters, Janet Thornbrough of East Prairie, Claudetta Woodard of Simi Valley, Calif.; a sister, Berneece Hawkins of Salem, Ore.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son and two brothers.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. today at the Shelby Funeral Chapel in Charleston with the Rev. Richard Combs officiating.

Burial will follow in the Odd Fellows Cemetery near Charleston.
