OPAL HARWOOD

ZALMA -- Opal J. Harwood, 88, formerly of Zalma and Kirkwood, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 1998, at Greenville Health Center in Greenville.

She was born May 14, 1909, at Zalma, daughter of James and Icy May Abernathy Cato. She married Shelton Harwood, who died April 17, 1959.

Harwood retired from Florsheim Shoe Co. in St. Louis.

Survivors include a daughter, Gilda Riek of Kirkwood; a brother, Eual Cato of Greenville; a grandson; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother.

Friends may call at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance from 5-7 p.m. Saturday.

Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with John Tolbert officiating. Burial will be in Morgan Memorial Park in Advance.
