MAKANDA, Ill. -- Clarissa Pina Opal Gibson, 82, of Makanda died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, at the home of a daughter in Carbondale, Ill. She was born May 27, 1922, in Beefhide, Ky., daughter of William Ode and Nancy D. White Mullins. She and Roy Gibson were married Feb. 18, 1946. He died Sept. 17, 2004...

MAKANDA, Ill. -- Clarissa Pina Opal Gibson, 82, of Makanda died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, at the home of a daughter in Carbondale, Ill.

She was born May 27, 1922, in Beefhide, Ky., daughter of William Ode and Nancy D. White Mullins. She and Roy Gibson were married Feb. 18, 1946. He died Sept. 17, 2004.

Gibson graduated from cosmetology school in 1941, and opened a beauty shop with her sister in Wayland, Ky.

Survivors include a son, Greg Gibson of Carbondale; three daughters, Nancy Kalm of Sneads Ferry, N.C., Margaret Stonicus of Carbondale, Pamela Leighton of Cape Girardeau; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

Friends may call at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Annable officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Carbondale.
