SIKESTON, Mo. -- Opal C. Blackman, 81, of Sikeston died Friday, July 26, 2002, at her home. She was born Jan. 13, 1921, in Sikeston, daughter of Andrew Johnson and Matilda Taylor Crutchfield. She first married Bill Puckett in December 1945. He died April 12, 1963. She and M.L. "Windy" Blackman were married Jan. 20, 1968, at Sikeston...

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Opal C. Blackman, 81, of Sikeston died Friday, July 26, 2002, at her home.

She was born Jan. 13, 1921, in Sikeston, daughter of Andrew Johnson and Matilda Taylor Crutchfield. She first married Bill Puckett in December 1945. He died April 12, 1963. She and M.L. "Windy" Blackman were married Jan. 20, 1968, at Sikeston.

Blackman was a 1939 graduate of Sikeston High School.

She had been a clerk at Sterling, an operator with Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., a teller at Bank of Sikeston and at Security National Bank. She owned and operated Puckett Distributing Co. nine years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Phil Puckett of Sikeston; a daughter, Jennifer Guess of Denver, Colo.; a stepdaughter, Lisa Miller of Collierville, Tenn.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters.

Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the chapel, with the Rev. Sandy Schaller officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
