Omer S. Elfrink, 79, of Gordonville passed away Monday, Aug. 18, 2008, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He was born June 4, 1929, in Leopold, Mo., to Jacob H. and Adelheid H. Jansen Elfrink. He and Althea Rose Brandon were married Aug. 20, 1955. She passed away Feb. 28, 1991...

Omer S. Elfrink, 79, of Gordonville passed away Monday, Aug. 18, 2008, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born June 4, 1929, in Leopold, Mo., to Jacob H. and Adelheid H. Jansen Elfrink. He and Althea Rose Brandon were married Aug. 20, 1955. She passed away Feb. 28, 1991.

Omer served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged Sept. 3, 1960.

He was a lifelong dairyman. His employment included 23 years at Sunnynead Farm in Bismarck, Mo; Schwartz Brothers Farm near Dutchtown, and Schabbing Dairy in Cape Girardeau, retiring in 2004.

He was a 20-year member of Immaculate Conception Church in Jackson and a member of Knights of Columbus Council No. 5898 in Leopold.

Loving survivors include a son, John Elfrink of Pittsburgh; three daughters, Wanda Elfrink and Debbie Elfrink-Smith of Cape Girardeau, Regina Elfrink of Bonne Terre, Mo.; two brothers, Tom and Albert Elfrink of Leopold; seven grandchildren, Joe, Mike, Tabitha and Farra Elfrink, Amber Popp, Tara Glastetter, Shannon Smith; and six great-grandchildren, Madison, Austin and Savannah Elfrink, Natallie and Layla Popp, and Lex Glastetter.

He was preceded in death by a son, Ron Elfrink, in September 2007; five brothers; and a sister.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. Parish prayers will be at 7, immediately followed by the rosary led by Leopold Knights of Columbus Council.

Funeral Mass will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Church, with the Rev. John Harth officiating. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery at Leopold.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Association or to Masses.
