CANALOU -- Ollie Faye Southard, 73, of Canalou died Saturday, April 2, 1994, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
She was born June 25, 1920 in Blytheville, Ark., daughter of Walter Elgin and Rosie Hetty Reed Martin.
She was a resident of the Canalou area most of her life. She attended the First Baptist Church of Canalou.
On Jan. 19, 1934, she married Cletus "John" Southard at Yarboro, Ark. He survives of the home.
Also surviving are two sons, Charles Southard Sr. of Malden and Glen Southard of Canalou; five daughters, Hetty Hopper of Kankakee, Ill., Hazel Cantrell of Malden, Linda Robinson of Canalou, Carolyn Hughes of Loudon, Tenn., and Vickie Brant of the home; three brothers, Obie Martin of Clarksville, Ark., O'Dell Martin of Marston and Bill Martin of Conran; four sisters, Opal Thornton and Lucille Ferguson, both of Marston, and Pauline Emerson and Christine Birdwell, both of Sacramento, Calif.; 24 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Six children, one brother and four sisters preceded her in death.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston.
Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral chapel with the Rev. Fred Ritter, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Marble Hill and the Rev. Dewayne Coleman, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Canalou, officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
