Oliver "Joe" Dunn, 80, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2006, at Missouri Veterans Home.

He was born Aug. 24, 1925, in Cape Girardeau, son of Curtis J. and Ida Ramsey Dunn. He and Mildred A. Pendell were married in Lansing, Mich. She preceded him in death.

Dunn was raised in the Oriole community. He was a farmer all his life. He also worked 20 years at Ford Motor Co. in Owosso, Mich., briefly owned and operated a grocery store in Delta, and then worked 20 years and retired from Bunge Corp. in Cairo, Ill. He moved back to the Cape Girardeau area in 1996.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Survivors include a son, James Dunn of Delta; two daughters, Barbara Grubb of Perry, Mich., Linda Jackson of Water Valley, Ky.; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, a daughter, a grandson, two brothers and a sister.

Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. to noon Monday at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.

A committal service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, with the Rev. Eric Hodge officiating, followed by a military honors service.
