Oleda C. Ludwig, 91, of Oak Ridge passed away Thursday, Aug. 12, 2010, at Monticello House in Jackson.
She was born Feb. 12, 1919, in Pocahontas, to Earnest and Agusta Leimbach Schoen. She and Willis O. Ludwig were married Dec. 25, 1937. They had been married nearly 61 years when he passed away Nov. 9, 1998.
In their early marriage, Willis and Oleda resided in Chicago, where Oleda worked in the office of a defense plant. Willis worked at the Chrysler plant making engines, also for the war effort.
They moved back to the family farm in Oak Ridge in 1945. Oleda was an inspector at the former hosiery mill in Jackson, and then worked in surgical sanitation at Southeast Missouri Hospital, retiring in the late 1970s. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Fruitland the past 15 years and was a former member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson.
Loving survivors include three sons, Earl Ludwig and Wayne (Carolyn) Ludwig of Jackson, Larry (Charlotte) Ludwig of Woodson, Ill.; six grandchildren, Greg (Amy) Ludwig of Cape Girardeau, Pam (Doug) Stratton of St. Peters, Mo., Julie (Todd) Rushing and Amy (Bill) Ramsey of Jackson, Ricky Ludwig of Springfield, Ill., Lori Eddings of Jacksonville, Ill.; nine great-grandchildren, Russell Ludwig, Tyler and Danielle Stratton, Colby and Austin Rushing, Alyssa and Blake Ramsey, Alexis and Ashlyn Eddings.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Ludwig; a sister, Ada Weber; and a brother, Leon Schoen.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson, and from 9:30 a.m. to time of service Monday at St. John's Church.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. Dave Schaffner officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. John's Memorial Fund or Southeast Hospice.
