CANALOU -- Offie Ola Hunter, 80, of Canalou, died Saturday, April 6, 1996, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
She was born May 17, 1915, in Parma, to Mr. and Mrs. James Basinger. She married Lee Maloy "Nog" Hunter on Feb. 25, 1940, in Holly Springs, Miss. He preceded her in death April 23, 1988.
Hunter was retired, having worked as a nurse's aide for Shuffitt's Nursing Home in Sikeston. She attended the Assembly of God Church in Canalou.
Survivors include two sons, James Edsall of Morehouse and Jerry Hunter of Canalou; two brothers, Thurman Basinger of Eldorado, Ill., and Hobert Basinger of Flint, Mich.; two sisters, Lela Layton of Kennett and Bertha Wren of Eldorado; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Sikeston.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel, with the Rev. Mike Cartwright officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
