Funeral service for Odell H. Ayers, 517 S. Benton, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel. Bishop Charlie Green will officiate, with burial in Fairmount Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Saturday.

Ayers, 86, died Monday, Oct. 18, 1993, at her home.

She was born March 7, 1907, in Arkansas, daughter of Clarence and Lula Thompson Williams. She and Lee Ayers were married in 1927 in Stuttgart, Ark. He died Feb. 24, 1970.

Ayers had been a cook at Royal New Orleans Restaurant, and member of Church of God in Christ.

Survivors include five sons, Henry Ayers of Dallas, Texas, Joe Ayers of Cape Girardeau, Jerry Ayers of Mansfield, Texas, Charlie Ayers of Jackson, Marshall Ayers of Springfield, Ill.; three daughters, Hazel Jackson and Louise Colon of Cape Girardeau, Adell Nelson of Chicago; a sister, Julia Thornton of Malden; 60 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son and three brothers.
