JACKSON -- O.B. "Bud" Ayers, 76, of Jackson, died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 1996, at Deal Nursing Home.
He was born April 22, 1919, in Cape Girardeau, son of Charles and Mamie Berry Ayers. He and Luellen Hurst were married Jan. 17, 1946.
Ayers received a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from the University of Missouri at Rolla.
He was employed by Missouri State Highway Department 32 years. He retired in 1980 and moved to Jackson. He was a member of New McKendree United Methodist Church.
Ayers was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He retired from the U.S. Air Force Reserves in 1979 as a lieutenant colonel.
Survivors include his wife; a son, David Ayers of Richardson, Texas, and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4-8 p.m. Friday.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. O. David Griffin officiating. Private committal service will follow at Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
