JACKSON -- Novella M. Sample, 87, of Jackson died Sunday, Nov. 16, 1997, at her home.
She was born May 18, 1910, at Marble Hill, daughter of Felix and Della Eaker Hilderbrand. She and George A. Sample were married March 21, 1927, at Fredericktown. He died Dec. 1, 1965.
Sample was a baker at Southeast Missouri State University 10 years, retiring in 1977. She was a member of Red Star Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau and its Willing Worker Sunday School Class.
Survivors include six sons, Larry, Anthony and Johnnie Sample of Jackson, Kenneth Sample of Palm Beach, Fla., Lester and Gary Sample of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Evelyn Welter of Cape Girardeau; a stepdaughter, Freda Hunze of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Mable Killian of Flint, Mich.; 26 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, three stepdaughters, a sister, and a brother.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel in Cape Girardeau from 4-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel, with the Revs. Donny Ford and S.S. Borum officiating. Burial will be in Baker Cemetery at Marble Hill.
