NORWOOD S. HANEY

EAST PRAIRIE -- Norwood S. Haney, 80, of East Prairie, died Monday, April 29, 1991, at Bertrand Retirement Home.

He was born April 12, 1911, in Lexington, Ky., son of Travis Elgin and Nancy Bell Heflin Haney. He and the former Hazel Marie Phipps were married Aug. 4, 1936. She died Oct. 20, 1976.

Haney was a retired farmer, and member of Wolf Island Baptist Church near here.

Survivors include two sons, Edgar Haney of Charleston, James "Bubby" Haney of East Prairie; a daughter, Jane Bennett of East Prairie; a brother, Dan Haney of Scott City; 18 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, two sisters, eight brothers and a granddaughter, Tammy Bennett.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Chapel here. The Rev. Connie King will officiate, with burial in IOOF Cemetery near Charleston.
