Norval Melford Friese, 93, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2020, at Missouri Veterans Home.
He was born June 25, 1927, in Cape Girardeau to Burnie and Lillie Crites Friese. He married Mildred "Louise" Davis on Dec. 24, 1949, in Illmo. She preceded him in death March 2, 2020.
Norval was a veteran of the U.S. Army and Navy. He served in World War II. He retired from the Cape Girardeau Police Department.
He is survived by a son, Doug (Lisa) Friese, and grandchildren, Max Friese, Vince Friese and Chara Bruner.
Norval was also preceded in death by a son, Chuck Friese; brothers, Carlston "Gene" and Carl Melvin Friese; and sister, Doris Hartle.
Private graveside service, with full military honors, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Jim Matthews officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in his name to Avenue of Flags, Attn: AOF, VFW Post 3838, 1049 N. Kingshighway, Cape Girardeau, MO 63701.
Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapels in Scott City was in charge of arrangements.
