Norman E. Zwosta, 77, of New Wells passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, where he was a resident the past nine months.
He was born June 30, 1935, in New Wells, son of Albert E. and Alma Koch Zwosta. He and Myrtha Soehl were married Sept. 10, 1960, at Grace Lutheran Church in Uniontown, Mo.
Norman was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells, where he was an elder, trustee, usher and was on other church committees. He was the Lutheran Home delegate representing Immanuel Lutheran Church many years.
He enlisted in the United States Army Sept. 11, 1957, and was honorably discharged Aug. 7, 1959.
Norman worked the family farm his entire life. Certain plots of ground on the farm were designated as grain test plots for Shawneetown Feed and Seed.
Loving survivors include his wife, Myrtha of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Julie Zwosta of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Dorothy Ludwig of Oak Ridge and Fern (Milton) Hoffman of Jackson; a brother-in-law, Wayne (Lin) Jones of Cape Girardeau; a sister-in-law, Shirley Soehl of Jackson; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister-in-law, Myra Jones; and two brothers-in-law, Kenny Soehl and Marvin Ludwig.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson, and from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Walter Patzwitz officiating. Interment will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in New Wells, with full military honors.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to Immanuel Lutheran Church, the Lutheran Home or the church or charity of your choice.
