CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Norman Wenskay, 81, of Cape Girardeau, died Thursday, Jan. 30, 1997, at the V.A. Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn.

He was born April 2, 1915, in Detroit, Mich., son of the late Carl and Otile Wenskay. He married Dora Sprenger on Aug. 31, 1941, and she survives him.

He received a bachelor's of science degree from Southeast Missouri State University before receiving his master's degree from Southern Illinois University.

He had been the principal of Lomar, Holcomb, Vanduser and Morley schools. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a member of American Legion of Hardie, Ark., VFW Post 3838 of Cape Girardeau, Organized Disabled Veterans Chapter 16, Disabled Veterans Chapter 70, Ash Flate Disabled Veterans and disabled services officer for all American veterans.

He is survived by one son, Carl Wenskay, of Cape Girardeau; one daughter, Elizabeth Lamer, of Cobden, Ill.; two brothers, Carl Wenksay and Roy Wenskay, both of Dearborn, Mich.; one sister, Dorothy Wenskay, of Saskatchewan, Canada.; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City and from noon until the funeral service Monday at Hanover Lutheran Church. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the church with the Rev. Jeffery Sippy officiating. Burial will be in the Hanover Lutheran Cemetery.
