Norman G. "Norm" Tuschhoff, 81, of Jackson passed away Sunday, May 19, 2013, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born July 20, 1931, in Millersville, to Reinhardt F. and Grace I. Tuschhoff. He and Valeria "Val" Zoellner were married July 19, 1953, in Altenburg, Mo.

Norman was employed at the former Moon Distributing Co. in Cape Girardeau and the former Small Munitions Plant in St. Louis. He then served 30 years as a police officer for the city of Jackson, retiring July 30, 1993, as a sergeant.

Music was a passion of Norm's and he entertained people for more than 25 years with his music group, Country Touch. Alongside other volunteers, he labored many years to restore the Arnsberg Cemetery near Friedheim. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Norm was a longtime member of Emanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson, and he faithfully helped prepare the men's annual pork sausage supper. He was a former member of Jackson Elks.

Loving survivors include his wife of nearly 60 years, Val of Jackson; two children, Leon Tuschhoff of Topeka, Kan., and Saundra Perry of Jackson; three grandchildren, Misty Ziegler and Travis Tuschhoff of Cape Girardeau and Don Perry III of West Point Military Academy; a sister, Esther (the late Otis) Banks of Lakewood, Calif.; and a sister-in-law, Clarabell (the late Melvin) Zoellner.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Sam Roethemeyer officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Emanuel United Church of Christ memorial fund.
