PERRYVILLE, Mo. — Norman H. Steffens, 85, of Perryville died Friday, May 9, 2008, at Independence Care Center of Perry County.
He was born April 27, 1923, at Farrar, Mo., son of Ernst and Rosa Verseman Steffens. He and Irma F. Meier Steffens were married Jan. 25, 1948. She died Aug. 12, 2000.
Steffens was a retired supervisor at Gilster Mary Lee mixing room. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a member of Perryville Guard of Honor, American Legion Post 133, Berean Bible Class, Immanuel Lutheran Men's Club and Men's Choir.
Survivors include a son, Kenneth Steffens of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Kathryn Stueve of Frohna, Mo.; three sisters, LaVern Fox of Cape Girardeau, Edith Roth of Farrar, Virginia Guyott of St. Charles, Mo.; three brothers, Arlan Steffens of Farrar, Cleo Steffens of St. Louis, Wayne Steffens of Cape Girardeau; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today, with American Legion wake at 7 p.m., and from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. Monday at Young and Sons Chapel.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Thomas Handrick officiating.
Burial will be in the Church Cemetery with military graveside service provided by American Legion Post 133.
