Norman Vinyard "High-Power" Short, 90, of Boulder, Colo., died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2007, at his home.
He was born Nov. 18, 1916, in Jackson, son of Maurice A. and Kathryn D. Paul Short. He and Betty Read were married Dec. 20, 1948. She died May 3, 1967. He and Marguerite Hazzard were married in 1969. She died in May 2006.
Short worked for the U.S. Department of Defense in St. Louis 18 years.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He served 20 years, retiring in 1959 as a captain.
Short was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Retired Officers Association, Reserve Officers Association, Retired Enlisted Men's Association, Military Order of World Wars, Altenthal-Joerns American Legion Post 158, VFW Post 10495 and Elks Club in Jackson, and National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
Survivors include a daughter, Cameron Wickham of Boulder, and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to service time Saturday at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Dr. Grant F.C. Gillard officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Fruitland.
