Norman "N.A." Proffer, 85, of Whitewater passed away Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2016, at the Chaffee Nursing Center. He was born Dec. 12, 1930, in Crump to the late Lyman A. Boge and Etta Ellen Rhodes Proffer. He and Margie Marie Schweer were married Feb. 10, 1951. She preceded him in death Dec. 13, 2014...

Norman "N.A." Proffer, 85, of Whitewater passed away Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2016, at the Chaffee Nursing Center.

He was born Dec. 12, 1930, in Crump to the late Lyman A. Boge and Etta Ellen Rhodes Proffer. He and Margie Marie Schweer were married Feb. 10, 1951. She preceded him in death Dec. 13, 2014.

N.A. was a graduate of Delta High School. He worked as a self-employed bricklayer for more than 40 years. He was a member of Bethlehem General Baptist Church, past Master Whitewater Masonic Lodge No. 417 and past Master Chaffee Masonic Lodge No. 615, member of the Sword of Bunker Hill, Chapter dad and treasurer of Excelsior Chapter Order of DeMolay, personal representative of the executive office state of Missouri DeMolay, Capaha Scottish Rite, past president and treasurer of the local and state High 12 Club and 32nd-degree Mason of the Scottish Rite.

Survivors include a son, Richard Proffer of Whitewater; daughter, Brenda Rhodes of Oran, Missouri; four grandchildren, Christina (Dean) Day of Jackson and Amy Phillips, Bill (Kelly) Loper and Melissa (Drew) Goodale, all of Oran; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Margie.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Ford and Sons Funeral Home in Jackson. A Masonic service will be at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Proffer Cemetery in Crump.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Bethlehem General Baptist Church or Burfordville Baptist Church.
