ULLIN, Ill. -- Norman Lee Dowdy, 68, Ullin Route 1, died Thursday, Oct. 6, 1994, at his home.
He was born March 18, 1926, in Miller City, son of Otis and Freda Willis Dowdy. He and Juanita Bennett were married May 15, 1943, at Charleston, Mo.
Dowdy was a grain farmer. He was a member, trustee and Sunday School superintendent at Ullin Pentecostal Church, and member of Pulaski-Alexander County Farm Bureau. He served on the Big Creek Drainage District Board in Pulaski County.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jim and Kenny Dowdy of Tamms; a daughter, Nancy Williams of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Lloyd Dowdy of Humboldt, Tenn., Marvin Dowdy of Olive Branch; three sisters, Coleen Shaw of Jerseyville, Janice Stevens of Deer Park, Texas, Donna McKee of Olive Branch; 10 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers.
Friends may call at Jones Funeral Home in Tamms from 6-9 p.m. Saturday.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Billy Don Heady officiating. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery.
