FROHNA, Mo. -- Norman S. Evans, 72, of Frohna died Monday, Sept. 4, 2006, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born July 1, 1934, in Wheat Ridge, Colo., son of Rudy and Paula Fielder Degenhardt. He and Alida Haertling were married Oct. 3, 1959.
Mr. Evans farmed and raised livestock. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg, Mo., lifetime member of VFW Post 4282 and American Legion Post 133.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Linda (Duaine) Steffens of Jackson; two granddaughters, Erin and Emma Steffens of Jackson; three brothers-in-law, Elton (Grace) Haertling of Frohna, Clint (Martha) Haertling of Perryville, Ruben (Carol) Haertling of New Wells, Mo.; three sisters-in-law, Lorene (Jerry) Mayfield of Patton, Lorna (Kenny) Steffens of Frohna, Ruth Haertling of New Wells; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers-in-law.
Friends may call at Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg from 4 to 8 p.m. today, and Thursday from 6:30 a.m. until time of service.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Steven Dressler officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Church Cemetery, with military graveside service by VFW Post 4282.
Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church Organ Fund or St. Paul Lutheran School in Jackson.
