SIKESTON, Mo. -- Norman Lee "Punk" Evans, 72, a resident of rural Sikeston, passed away at 3:40 p.m. Sunday, March 12, 2006, at his home after an extended illness.
Born Sept. 10, 1933, in Scott County to the late Roy V. and Frances Yeakey Evans, Norman lived most of his life in the Scott County area.
Engaged in farming and the cattle business, Norman served 30 years, from 1963 to 1993, on the Scott County ASCS. He attended the Morehouse Church of Christ.
On May 20, 1989, he married Molly Wade Evans who survives of the home. Also surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Diann and John Miller of Sikeston, Dayna and Rob Laseter of Carson, Iowa; two grandsons, Clay and Joseph Miller of Sikeston; a sister and brother-in-law, Tom and Carolyn Duff of Sikeston; a sister-in-law, Glenda Evans of Blodgett, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister-in-law, Tom Evans, Jim and Geraldine Evans; a great-nephew, Adam McGee; and a great-niece, Abby Evans.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Blanchard Funeral Chapel in Sikeston, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Russell Rice, J.D. McClard, Jerry Mickey and Woodrow Phillips will officiate. Burial will follow in Blodgett Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Roy Evans, James "J.C." Evans, Alan Evans, Marty Evans, Joel Evans, Chris Evans and Justin Evans.
Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Lambert, Tom Duff, Earl Wade, Kelles Wade, John Byrd and Bill Leeming.
