Norman E. "Gene" Crader, 65, 1616 Mississippi, died Wednesday, March 30, 1994, at his home.

He was born June 23, 1928, at Whitewater, son of John Marshall and Fannie Slover Crader. He and Jo Ann Mullins were married March 27, 1949, in Cape Girardeau.

Crader managed Kroger stores in Chester and Coulterville, Ill. He then managed Kilgore-Mullins Drug Store here seven years. Crader was an operator at the water treatment plant here 32 years, retiring in 1989. He had also worked part time at Sullivan Sales and Leonard Lowes Construction.

He was a member of Hanover Lutheran Church, former member of the Men's Club and Dartball League, and former representative of Lutheran Laymen's League.

He was a 1946 graduate of Delta High School. He served with the U.S. Army in Japan during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Victoria Michael and Beverly Harris of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Delbert Spain of Medford, Ore., Arley Spain of Longview, Wash.; five sisters, Margaret McClanahan of Collinsville, Ill., Pauline Irvine and Eileen Hinton of Cape Girardeau, Jerry Lawrence of St. Charles, Juanita Holloway of Jackson, and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by five brothers and a sister.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-9 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Hanover Church. The Rev. Jeffrey Sippy will officiate, with burial in the church cemetery.
