TAMMS, Ill. -- Norman "Lee" Cauble, 72, of Marion, Ill., formerly of Tamms, died at 5:05 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale, Ill.
He was born Sept. 11, 1932, at Elco, Ill., the son of Norman F. and Florence Baldwin Cauble. He was married on Nov. 4, 1950, to Shirley Hunter.
Lee was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and for 30 years was a state trooper with the Illinois State Police. After retirement he was a part-time law enforcement instructor at Shawnee College.
He was a member of Heartland Christian Church in Marion.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley of Marion; two daughters and sons-in-law, Leeann and Kris Killman of Marion, Ruthie and Jon Hall of Benton, Ill.; a brother and sister-in-law, Ben and Nita Cauble of Mumford, Tenn.; two granddaughters, Lora Stanley and Sara Rone; two stepgrandchildren, Jon and Breeann; his mother-in-law, Juanita Kerr of Ullin, Ill.; nieces; nephews; and other relatives.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and on Tuesday until time of services at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms.
Funeral services for Norman "Lee" Cauble will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with minister Randy Allison officiating. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
