Norman W. Birk, 91, of Jackson went to his eternal home with Christ on Wednesday, May 6, 2015. He resided at Jackson Manor the past three years.

He was born Feb. 11, 1924, near Tilsit, to Oscar and Olinda Best Birk. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tilsit. He attended the church's former grade school and the former public school in Tilsit.

Norman and Doris Kaminskey were married April 15, 1945, at the parsonage of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tilsit.

They were active members of the congregation until 1962, when they transferred their membership to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson, where Norman was a member of the Men's Club and formerly served as a trustee.

He was a self-employed farmer and trucker. In the mid-1980s, declining health perpetuated the sale of the farm south of Jackson, and the Birks moved to Jackson. Norman enjoyed yard work, gardening and playing cards. He and Doris liked to travel and visit their children. They visited most of the United States and the Canadian province of Nova Scotia.
