COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Norma Lee Wilkening, 89, of Columbia passed away Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2014, at Lenoir Woods in Columbia.
She was born April 20, 1925, in Cincinnati to Guy and Geska Richter. She and Walter T. Wilkening were married March 17, 1945, in Oak Ridge.
Norma graduated with a bachelor of science degree in education from Southeast Missouri State University. She was active in Global Missions of the United Methodist Church and a member of Community United Methodist Church in Columbia. For more than 20 years after retirement, Norma and Walter served others in need during many mission trips around the U.S. and in other countries, such as Czech Republic and Mozambique.
Survivors include her husband, Walter; two sons, Wayne (Nancy) Wilkening of South Carolina and Lee Wilkening of Arizona; a brother, Gene (Betty) Richter of St Louis; and a grandson, Gabe Wilkening.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Lenoir Woods Epple Chapel in Columbia. Ashes will be interred at a later date at Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery in Oak Ridge.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Community United Methodist Church in Columbia.
