Norma Juanita Unverferth, 79, of Yuma, Ariz., died April 9, 2012, at her residence.

She was born Dec. 9, 1932, in Rockwood, Ill., daughter of Benjamin and Edith Iona Johnson Herring. She and John "Jack" Unverferth were married Oct. 3, 1953. He survives in Yuma.

Mrs. Unverferth had been a homemaker. She had been employed by Leonard Photography in Chester, Ill., and Intersection and Park-Et Restaurants in Perryville, Mo. She spent many years and had worked various jobs in both Chester and Perryville. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Yuma.

Other survivors include two daughters and a son, Gaye M. Unverferth of Omaha, Neb., Scott A. Unverferth and Terry L. Schluentz, both of Escondido, Calif.; five grandchildren, Carmella Flowers, Jessica Schluentz, Michelle Schluentz, Miranda Unverferth, Jonathan Unverferth; four great-grandchildren, Harmony Flowers, Gregory Flowers, Emily Schluentz and Aaron Schluentz.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Charles and Howard; two sisters, Pauline and Omalee; and two infant siblings.

Friends may call at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 7 a.m. until time of Mass at 10 a.m. Monday, with Rev. Jason Schumer and Rev. Milton Ryan concelebrating. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. today. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to St. Vincent School.

Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville provided the arrangements.
