Norma M. Kent, 91, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2014, at Life Care Center of Cape Girardeau, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Sept. 7, 1923, in Sedgewickville, Missouri, to Joseph and Maude Seabaugh Bollinger. She and Charles Ercie Kent were married March 27, 1948, in Cape Girardeau. He preceded her in death Oct. 4, 1985.
Norma was a member of Hobbs Chapel. In her earlier years, she worked at Southeast Hospital in the laundry department. Norma enjoyed baby-sitting, was a caregiver, and was proud of playing basketball in her high school years.
She enjoyed being with her family and enjoyed all the simple things in life. Everyone she knew loved her sweet smile.
Survivors include two sons, Paul (Delia) Kent of Lewisville, Texas, and Charles Kent of Cape Girardeau; three daughters, Jane (Ronald) Burton of Tamms, Illinois, Vickie Kent of Cape Girardeau and Lindy (Duane) Benes of Silverhill, Alabama; seven grandchildren, Scotty Kent, Billy Burton, Jean (Matt) Williams, Erik Benes, Richie (Rebecca) Burton, Margie Burton and Kristin (Jeff) Michel; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Ancel Bollinger; and a sister, Audrey Bollinger.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Stan Hargis officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.
