PERRYVILLE, Mo. — Norma Lee Clifton, 86, of Perryville died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2008, at Independence Care Center of Perry County.

She was born Oct. 13, 1922, at Farrar, Mo., daughter of Max and Gertrude Muench Fritsche. She and James W. Clifton were married May 19, 1945. He died March 23, 2005.

Clifton was a wedding cake decorator. She was a member of and had been a Sunday school teacher at St. James Catholic Church at Crosstown, was a former member of the Ladies Sodality and volunteered with Perry County Voters Poll.

Survivors include five daughters, Patricia Hager of Elkton, Md., Carolyn Pecaut, Linda Mattingly and Jeanine Kennon of Perryville, Diana Kennedy of Hillsboro, Mo.; five sons, James, Richard, Stephen and Robert Clifton of Perryville, Michael Clifton of Washington, Mo.; 22 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and three great-stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today and 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. Friday at Young and Sons Funeral Home. The Catholic wake will be at 7 tonight, and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy will be at 9 a.m. Friday.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with the Rev. Joe Williams officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
