Mary Norma Buerck, 92, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2023, at Saint Francis Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 8, 1931, in Bloomsdale, Missouri, to Virgil Hoffman Sr. and Ellen Cissell Hoffman. She and Earl William Buerck were married Nov. 11, 1950, at St. Mary's of the Barrens in Perryville, Missouri.
Norma was a graduate of Perryville High School and Southeast Missouri State University.
She taught at Notre Dame High School, where she also served as the librarian.
She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and was a volunteer at Southeast Hospital.
Survivors include her children, Vicky (Cliff) Hardt of College Grove, Tennessee, Becky (Wayne) Daume of Cape Girardeau, Randy (Susan) Buerck of Cape Girardeau, Christie (Michael) Morton of Austin, Texas, and Pam (Dave) Bayer of Clearwater, Florida; 10 grandchildren, Megan (Matt) Carter, Heather (Shane) Douglas, Bryan Daume, Jennifer Barylski, Eric (Rachael) Daume, Daniel (Chris) Buerck, Timothy (Andrea) Buerck, Carlie Morton, Lance (Abby) Bayer and Beau Bayer; 11 great-grandchildren; and a very special friend, Ralph Friga of Cape Girardeau.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers, Paul Hoffman and Virgil Hoffman Jr.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m. followed by a rosary led by the St. Vincent's Council of Catholic Women.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Rick Jones officiating. Entombment will follow at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum in Cape Girardeau.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, St. Vincent de Paul Church or Chateau Girardeau.
