NORMA BOWERS

BURFORDVILLE -- Norma M. Bowers, 81, of Burfordville, died Monday, Aug. 5, 1996, at Deal Nursing Home in Jackson.

She was born June 16, 1915, at Fruitland, daughter of Samuel Price and Lulu Gordan Sides. After the death of her mother, she was reared by her father and stepmother, Nancy Hargraves Sides. She and Theodore "Ted" Bowers were married Feb. 25, 1933.

Bowers had lived in the Burfordville area all her married life. She was a member of Burfordville Baptist Church, and taught Sunday School many years. She was a member of the former Burfordville Community Club, and was a secretary for the former Burfordville School Board.

Survivors include two daughters, Doris Crites of Phoenix, Ariz., Nancy Cook of Burfordville; a brother, Lloyd Sides of Jackson; five sisters, Nancy Prince of Millersville, Mary Stearns of Burfordville, Betty Marlett of Perryville, Dorothy Link of Casselberry, Fla., Virginia Riehn of Ashland; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and two stepgranddaughters.

She was preceded in death by a son, three brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson after 5 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Burfordville Baptist Church, with the Rev. Patrick Tankersley officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery at Jackson.
