Norma Jean Bollinger, 69, of Cape Girardeau passed away Friday, April 9, 2004, at her home, after a six-month hard-fought battle with cancer. Norma Jean Bollinger, 69, of Cape Girardeau passed away Friday, April 9, 2004, at her home, after a six-month hard-fought battle with cancer.

She was born Oct. 19, 1934, at Oran, Mo., daughter of Robert and Bertha Greer Fisher. She and Harold R. Bollinger were married July 7, 1952, in Pocahontas, Ark.

Norma was a graduate of Cape Girardeau School of Cosmetology. She was a licensed beautician more than 20 years, and was owner and operator with her husband of the Bollinger Trucking Co. for 18 years.

She was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church and member of Cape Lanettes Women's Bowling League 15 years.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Jim (Jean) Bollinger of Cape Girardeau, Ron (Stacey) Bollinger of Whitewater; two daughters, Sandy (Alan) Haman and Debra L. Green of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Raymond Fisher of Neelyville, Mo., Herschel Fisher of Advance, Mo.; four sisters, Wanda Ponce of Bell City, Mo., Helen Heldenbrand of Sikeston, Mo., Evelyn Cooper of University City, Mo., and Marie Widner of Durand, Mich.

Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Brandy (Jarrod) Thomas, Courtney (Jeff) Bourbon, Ray (Tana) Green, Jackson, Brittany, Gunnar and Remi Bollinger; three great-grandchildren, Madison Green, Katie and Kelsie Stinnett; and her loving pet, Sammy.

Norma lived life with enormous enthusiasm. She conquered many trials and tribulations in life with optimism and courage, always having the greatest faith in her heavenly Father. She deeply loved and cherished her family, constantly showing her happiness to spend precious time with them. She was an inspiration and will be missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Hazel Kennedy; and a grandson, Jay Green.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Wesley Rider, David Swindell and John Rhodes officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
