Norbert Hilmer Kuehnert, 78, of Cape Girardeau, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born June 13, 1932, in Altenburg, Mo., to Adolph Gustov and Gertrude Bellman Kuehnert. He was married to Janice Best on May 5, 1956. She preceded him in death on Jan. 19, 1998.
Norbert was a graduate of Perryville High School and a member of St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict on the USS Valley Forge.
Norbert was a carpenter by trade working for John Friese Construction and Landgraf Construction.
He is survived by two daughters, Becky (Butch) Gast of Altenburg and Elizabeth (Bob) Lowry of Hailey, Idaho; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Steven; a daughter, Judy; and a brother, Leonard.
Visitation will be from noon until service time Tuesday at St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church with the Rev. Paul Short officiating.
Burial will be private at Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery in Altenburg.
Arrangements were handled by Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home of Jackson.
