PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Nora E. "Sis" Wood, 86, of Perryville died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, at Independence Care Center.
She was born Oct. 10, 1926, at Friedheim, son of Herman and Ida Braun Laurentius. She and Melvin "Moe" Wood were married Oct. 12, 1946, in Perryville. He preceded her in death June 29, 2010.
Sis was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary and VFW Auxiliary. She was a cutter for 45 years at International Shoe Co. and had been a tour guide with Holiday Tours.
Sis was very active in her community. She loved to fish, bowl, play cards, gamble and dance. She also loved to bake and cook for family and friends. All of these activities brought her many friends throughout the years.
Survivors include two sons, Edward (Donna) Wood of Perryville, Patrick (Theresa) Wood of Mayflower, Ark.; a daughter, Peggy (Dale) Hotop of Perryville; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Edward Laurentius; a sister, Luella Taylor; and a grandson, Wesley Dean Hotop.
The family will receive friends from 8 a.m. until time of service Monday at St. Vincent de Paul Church.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. Milton Ryan officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Miller Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society, Kidney Foundation, Alzheimer's Association or Southeast Hospice.
