Nora Lee Stranahan, 93, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Saint Francis Medical Center.
She was born Aug. 17, 1930, in Flat River to Homer and Mary Rhodes Shannon. She and Benjamin James Stranahan were married Nov. 7, 1953, in Desloge. He preceded her in death.
Nora was a teacher for 30 years for the Cape Girardeau School District. She retired in 2000.
She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
Survivors include a son, Jim Stranahan Jr. of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Maureen Stranahan of Cape Girardeau and Kathy Stranahan of Oakville; brother, Michael J. (Janet) Shannon of Reed Springs; sister, Barbara Barrow of Columbia; two grandchildren, Kathleen Elizabeth (Lee) Buchenau of St. Louis and Maureen Caroline (Samuel) Gall of Stillwell, Kansas; and one great-grandchild, Peter Thomas Gall.
Nora was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother and one sister.
Funeral Mass was Thursday, June 13, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau. Burial was at St. Mary's Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
