CHAFFEE -- Nora Elminah Purdom, 94, of Chaffee died Sunday Feb. 23, 1997, at the Chaffee Nursing Center.
She was born Sept. 8, 1902, in Harvell, daughter of Thadius and Margaret Bryant Campbell. She married John D. Purdom on Nov. 22, 1922. He preceded her in death on Nov. 9, 1962.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Southside Free Will Baptist Church in St. Louis.
She is survived by three sons, Nathan Purdom of Delta, Thomas Purdom of Sikeston, and Raymond Purdom of Licking; five daughters, Pansy Pond of Herculaneum, Lillie Tallent of Dardenelle, Ark., Alberta Emmenegger and Darline Long, both of St. Louis, and Marie Rhodes of Cape Girardeau; one brother, William Campbell of Dexter; one sister, Margaret Barnes of Rowlett, Texas; 25 grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, seven brothers, one sister, her parents and one grandson.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel with the Rev. W.R. Harrell officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Garden.
