POCAHONTAS -- Norma Amanda Pfeiffer, age 77, of Pocahontas, died Saturday, Dec. 4, 1999, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau where she had been a resident since 1990. She was born Oct. 15, 1922, at Uniontown, the daughter of Gottfried J. and Emma (Franke) Hemmann. On October 15, 1944, she married Victor Pfeiffer, who survives...

POCAHONTAS -- Norma Amanda Pfeiffer, age 77, of Pocahontas, died Saturday, Dec. 4, 1999, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau where she had been a resident since 1990. She was born Oct. 15, 1922, at Uniontown, the daughter of Gottfried J. and Emma (Franke) Hemmann. On October 15, 1944, she married Victor Pfeiffer, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Thomas Pfeiffer of Westland, Mich., and Wayne Pfeiffer of Jackson; a daughter, Joan Humphries of O'Fallon, Mo.; a sister, Ruth Hemmann of St. Charles, Mo.; six grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

Mrs. Pfeiffer was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church at Uniontown. In 1944, she transferred her membership to Zion Lutheran Church at Pocahontas. She was a member of the ladies aid organization at the church. She had worked at the former International Shoe Co. in Perryville. She and her husband farmed southeast of Pocahontas several years, and they also co-owned and operated the Pocahontas Meat Co. for many years. Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 7, at 10:30 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church with Rev. Howard Mueller officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4-8 p.m. on Monday and after 9:30 a.m. at the church on Tuesday.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Zion Lutheran Church at Pocahontas.
